Every Saturday from 11:00-1:00, St. John's Family Kitchen will host a free lunch to anyone interested in joining us. Grace Chapel and Covenant Presbyterian Church participate with us.
Warm Hearts, Warm Soles
As temperatures outside drop into the single digits, we all know how important it is to keep our feet dry & warm. It’s an even greater problem for the homeless. Feet work overtime when there’s no home and laundry room to return to each night. Additionally socks rarely are donated or, when they are, they can’t be sanitized and put to use. If you put yourself in someone else’s shoes (no pun intended), you can see how clean, warm socks are a true treasure that we take for granted.
The Christian Education Department is challenging the 8:00 service and the 10:00 service to see which group can donate the most new socks for our brothers & sisters in need. Most needed are plain white or grey thick socks, but all donations are welcome, in both adult and child sizes,
We’ll kick off this effort on Sunday February 17th with St. John’s Silly Socks Sunday. Wear your loudest, flashiest, silliest socks that day to support this cause. There will be collection bins in the Narthex and the Lounge for your donations, and socks will be collected between February 17th and April 7th.
